Laguna Beach mtn/road riding

Dave and I headed out to Laguna on Thursday for a bit of road and mountain biking. I have a cheapie Schwinn that I picked up from Craigslist for $75. I figured it was cheaper than renting a bike for a couple days. Even with that in mind, I thought I had made a mistake because I took it out for a test ride Tuesday and came back with a thorn that flattened the front tire. But it's nothing a patch can't fix.

Anyway, all of us here know the OC since we've done the SART. PCH is good riding. But this time, we checked out some of the state parks to see what kind of mountain bike action they have. El Moro is pretty sweet. People must go through and grade those trails weekly because they are almost as smooth as the road. Now, some hardcore guys would probably look down at that, thinking it's the deep grooves and rocky conditions that really make it mountain biking. Yeah. Okay. Believe me, there are nice sharp declines out there that more than make up for the lack of rough terrain. It was fun. That's all I care.

Enjoy...

Hidden Valley loop (Thousand Oaks)

Perfect weather, calm breeze, excellent scenery. It was a nice balance of climbs, straight-aways and downhills. If you're ever out here, you have to try this run.

Okay, I got the date wrong, but the video came out decent.

Good biking in Frisco

Great times in SF. Inner city cycling is a major challenge and slightly intimidating - heavy traffic, major uphills and downhills, with very little level ground. But the G.G. Bridge and Sausalito were a lot of fun.

Hard ride on the Cottonwood trails

Berdoo Bike Fools were in Blue Diamond, Nev., to ride the Cottonwood bike trails. Check out our video below. Awesome ride, a little punishing for beginner-intermediate riders, but loads of fun. If you are riding this trail, head over to the town of Blue Diamond, make a stop at McGhie’s Biking Outpost (the only bike shop in town) for information and maps of the trails, and/or to rent mountain bikes. The trailhead is right behind it. The view is spectacular on this ride. It definitely should be on everyone's top places to ride. Also, the famed Red Rock Canyon loop is nearby for road riders.
